In Sierra Leone a lot of girls and women are forced into prostitution to survive. Because of poverty and lack of job- and education opportunities they have to find a way to make money. According to UNAIDS there is more than 2400 sex workers in Sierra Leone. Besides that there is a lot of other vulnerable girls who experience assault, abuse and rape. We are a grassroots organization who are helping the girls and women with condoms, support and sometimes legal and financial assistance as well.

We want the sex workers in Sierra Leone to know that they have rights as human beings. Even though they often are stigmatized by society we know that they are working as sex workers to survive. Not because they like their occupation. Like any other human being they deserve respect and acceptance from fellow human beings.

Pink Power is offering various opportunities for sex workers and other vulnerable girls and women. In our office we have free educational program such as tailoring, hair dressing and computer classes. In our safehouse we educate young women to become Kekeh drivers, so they can get an income without going in the streets at nighttime.

Pink Power is running outreach and night campaigns to raise awareness about the risk of getting AIDS and other STI’s. Our employees and volunteers are distributing flyers and condoms to make the girls and women protects themselves. We don’t want them to get sick and die.
